NewsBar RSS reader App Reviews

A Must Have

This app is the best and the fastest way to get news you care about. The interface is customizable and unobtrusive. Support for the app is fantastic too. Definitely pick this one up.

Totally worth the $5

This is the only RSS reader you will ever need. I have tried the popular RSS feeders before including Reeder and Pulp. However Newbars is my favorite. It is stylish in a very sexy way, extremely versatile in terms of looks/cosmetics and RSS feed options, and is just pure awesome…I mean it is always running on your desktop, so as soon as you turn on your computer the news/articles will be right in your face, which is fantastic because you will be constantly updated with new content. Highly recommended!

My favorite RSS app

I have been running NewsBar for several months now and it has been a perfect way to stay on top of RSS feeds. Easy to add feeds, easy to organize feeds, and it sits well on the screen. Ive only ever had one, small problem with the app - a problem involving Blogger feeds after a recent update. But I contacted the developer (Andras), got an immediate response and an update to the update was released in a timely manner. Thats great support for a great app. Highly recommended!

The best Ive found

Id experimented with a number of RSS readers after Mail dropped the RSS feeds. None of them seemed to be able to do everything I needed them to do, and/or needed an outside subscription. This app does it all, without having to rely on outside services. I love the way I can organize and customize my feeds, and how well it syncs across the platforms. Its everything I wanted and needed, and looks nice too! :) Im kind of surprised to be so excited about an RSS reader, but maybe its because I spent so long frustrated that I couldnt find one to do what I wanted. Definitely happy now!

Cest PARFAIT!

Exactly what I needed! It works perfectly on my iMac, iPhone and iPad, all seamlessly! Ive yet to found anything I dislike.

NewsBar

This product works well and is useful in displaying the feeds in three levels, the most detailed being the web page referred to. It seems that it wants you to restart after changing from having the icon on the Dock to being placed in the menu bar but it made the change without my needing the restart. The previous version was good and reliable and the new version seems OK so far under Mavericks.

Good tiny RSS notifier

Does what it’s designed to do very well: Provide always-on RSS notifications at the edge of your Mac screen. Best when used with a limited number of feeds, due to a less than friendly subscription manager. The interface isn’t rich or sexy, but its minimalist design is effective.

Too late for money back….not happy

so I wanted a newsreader with a keyword filter so I can target topics. But the support person wasn’t helpful. They sell it as “with keyword filter” but then there really isn’t one. There is also very limited documentation regarding how it works.

Great Application

I love this app, really nicely designed and saves me tons of time going into websites to read the news. Very usfull for stock trading :)

Great

Simple, comfortable and tasteful!

4stars

Minimalist, easy to use and not invasive, maybe a little slow catching rss link in the preferences menù but the label system handle everything at the end.

Save Your Money

This app crashes when you try to add new RSS feeds and loses anything you’ve added so you have to set them up over and over. Save your money and just get one of the free apps.

Several Bugs on Sierra

Please, I just spent $10 on this, fix the bugs. There are several. Could be great but very ‘meh’ at the moment.

Because iCloud integration

The iCloud integration is the strong point of NewsBar. I use Mac, iPhone, and iPad. After Google Reader went away, NewsBar was (and is) the right answer for me because it lets me sync the newsfeeds on my devices using a service I already have.

Oh my

RSS is still a foundational tool for me. Mac OS and iOS with sync are must have. Well, this is the tool. Installed the desktop version, imported 165 feeds from an OPML file, installed the iOS version, iCloud deliverd the feeds to the iOS device and we were finished. Total time: six minutes. Soultion to my longing for a modern RSS reader across my platforms. Absolutley beautiful for me.

Amazing App and Easy to Use!

I love this application for RSS. It has great features and makes reading the news enjoyable, quick, and simple. I highly recommend this for anyone who uses RSS. The fact that this application syncs with my iPhone and iPad through iCloud is icing on the cake. The support from this application is wonderful as well; I usually hear back within the day.

Better Before the Last Upgrade

NewsBar was working great for me (OSX 10.6.8 on a Mac Mini). As of version 3.5 however, the news feed will only occasionally scroll with the mouse as it should. Restarting app, rebooting & running nothing but NewsBar hasnt helped. Emailed support and was amazed to get a reply in an hour or so on a Sunday night! Unfortunately, the advice did not resolve the issue and I havent been able to get any further reply from them. I didnt see anything in the suport forum about this, so perhaps its an isolated issue. Still, Id much rather support tell me they dont have a solution than to just go silent after the first attempt. I would love to see a scroll bar (as with standard windows) or some other way to jump to the top of the list after scrolling through a long list of entries. As it is now, theres no way to tell where you are in the list (Im not a big fan of the setting to auto jump to the top, since that tends to happen while Im partway through reading and I loose where I was). Still, probably the best RSS reader option Ive tried.

So far so good

So far it works great, updates in a timely manner and is easy to use. I wish they would recognize your user name and not charge you for installing on your laptop AND ipad (the only reason for 4 stars)… other than that, great product.

Best RSS reader for Mac and iOS

Newsbar is by far the best RSS client I have come across. After trying Feedly, Leaf etc…. nothing has worked out. NewsBar as every feature that you would expect from a RSS reader. The best feature by far is that way it syncs perfectly with the avalible iOS app. So many times I have read articles twice because its on my Computer and my iPad. This is no longer an issue. The side bar that continues to bring you up to the minute updates, is farless obtrusive than the typical notification center alert that almost always distracts your eyes form what you are working on. NewsBar is a steal at any price. Best reader to date.

Simplest RSS feed to use

Within 2 minutes, I added several different language feeds on my Mac Air. Nice view panel on the left, easy to view snippets and full articles. Easy to share and save features. No sync problems with the iPad. Starred items instantly appeared and all feeds came up. KISS principle.
